❓ Do I need a driver's license to ride an electric bike?
🚫 No. According to Bolivian traffic regulations, an electric vehicle without an engine displacement (cc) does not require a driver's license, as it is not classified within the types of traditional motor vehicles.
📖 This is supported by Chapter III, Article 21 of the current regulations.
❓Do you need a license plate to drive an electric tricycle?
🚫 It is not mandatory. Currently, There are no specific regulations requiring electric motorcycles or tricycles to display license plates or be driven by a license.
✅ SOAT (mandatory traffic accident insurance) is optional: you can obtain it to have coverage in case of an accident and drive with greater safety and legal protection.
📌 Important: Due to new Customs regulations, since August 2025, electric three-wheelers have been imported with their individual registration document, which includes the chassis and engine numbers. This document will be used to obtain license plates once regulations are finalized, as they are still under development.
